Responsibility matrix on the European Accessibility Act

Purpose

To share a responsibility matrix that sets out what Experlogix Digital Commerce is responsible for regarding the EAA and what you, as the WebShop owner, are responsible for.

It is your responsibility to be compliant with the EAA.

We support your compliance efforts by sharing information and tools regarding EAA, and through improvements we have made and continue to make to our platform and WebShop templating system.

The responsibilities listed in this section are not exhaustive.

Our responsibilities

Experlogix Digital Commerce aims to improve accessibility for existing customers. We do this by:

  • Sharing tools and information that will help you to verify that your WebShop is compliant with the European Accessibility Act

  • Improving our current templating system (Forta), where we deem it safe and technically possible to improve without adverse effects.

  • Adding features to the Digital Commerce platform to support the EAA requirements.

  • Offering a paid service to merchants (either directly or through partners) to improve accessibility.

  • Continuing to invest in a future templating system and features that support accessibility for all.

Your responsibilities

As a merchant, and WebShop owner, you are responsible for:

  • Understanding the European Accessibility Act and how it affects your WebShop.

  • Complying with the provisions set out in the European Accessibility Act. This includes, but is not limited to:

    • Include meaningful alt text for custom banners, widgets, and images.

    • Use semantic headings (H1-H6) in a logical structure.

    • Use descriptive text instead of generic text for links.

    • Verify that any customizations you have are compliant with the EAA.
