How do I update my PocketShop banner set?

This article describes how to create or modify a category banner in PocketShop.

The hero is the image that appears on the top of your menu or your screen. It is set up during your initial App build.

Hero banner set

(Customer App Hero)

The hero banner set is a set of images that appear at the top of your screen. If there is more than one, they are displayed in a carousel.

Category banner set

(Customer App Categories)

The category banner set is a set of images that appear under the Categories section in PocketShop that when clicked, navigates to a particular set of products.

Step by step

Step 1: Log into Management Interface 

Log in

Enter your username and password, and select Log in. This opens the Management Interface on your Dashboard.

Step 2: Open banner management

Open

  1. Click Banners to open Banner Management.

  2. Click Customer App Categories in the menu tree on the left of the page. This opens an editor that allows you to create, modify and view your PocketShop category banner set.

Step 3.a: Modify a banner in your banner set

Modify

A hero banner set has been created as part of your initial app build, which you can modify at any time.

  1. Scroll down to the hero image whose banner you wish to modify. Note that the item index is set to 0, which means it will always be at the top of your home screen.

  2. Make your changes.

  3. Click Save. The information is saved and displayed on PocketShop immediately.

Step 3.b: Create a new category

Create

An item is another name for a category.

  1. Create an item. The following details are required:

    • item name - name of the category, which must match an existing category in the product catalogue

    • item link - link to where the products contained in the category are located

    • item index - number assigned to the item which indicates where it is displayed relative to other items on display. The rule of thumb is that the lower the index, the higher it is displayed in the Popular Categories section of PocketShop.

    • an [optional] background image - background image that you can upload.

  2. Click Save to create the new item. The item is created and displayed on PocketShop immediately.

If you find that your image isn’t updated immediately, logout and log back into PocketShop.

Since hero banner sets are typically images, you do not need to provide an item link. Simply upload the image and you are good to go!
