What product types do you support?

Purpose

To describe which product types we support.

Term

Definition

Product code (SKU)

(SKU), the unique code for the product.

More information

Each product in your product catalogue has a product type associated with it. Each product type has a different purpose. Using the most appropriate product type for each product helps you use our platform’s functionality to showcase your products to their best advantage.

To discover what type a product has been configured as, check the product type setting under the Product Settings in the product administration tool for that product. Read Understanding product administration in WebShop for more information.

The following product types are supported:

Simple

A single product with no variations.

Example

The product code - 087654 - is a single product with no variations.

In WebShop, it is displayed on the detailed product page as:

Options

A single product with variations. For example, a iPad could have 3 memory sizes. Each product option can have different pricing and stock associated with it, while still being associated with the parent product.

Example

The product code - AW1 - is an Apple iPad Air with three memory size options.

In WebShop, it is displayed on the detailed product page as:

Shipping

A product that has been assigned for use as a shipping code.

Example

The product code - DELIVERYC - is a product code that has assigned for use as a shipping code.

The shipping product code is used when specifying shipping charge configuration rules.

Paired

Used when two products must be purchased together; for example WEEE charges are always associated with electrical goods in the EU due to EU regulations.

Typically, requires additional work to implement, and additional fees may apply. Discuss with your onboarding consultant if this product type is one you require.

Voucher

Not currently in use.
