Using barcode scanner in SalesRep

Purpose and scope

As a sales representative, you want functionality that allows you to add products to your order quickly and efficiently. The purpose of the barcode scanner is to allow to you scan a barcode, and find the associated product quickly and efficiently.

The barcode scanner is found at the top of the order screen in SalesRep, making it easy to find and use.

This feature guide is to provide a step by step guide to how to carry out these tasks.

Setup

The barcode scanner locates the product by searching for a specified field that contains its barcode. This field is imported and mapped in SalesRep as part of the regular synchronisation process. This means that you can manage your product's barcodes within your ERP.

Any changes that you make in your ERP will be imported the next time you sync SalesRep with your ERP.

Using the built-in scanner

Assumptions

  • You are logged into SalesRep.

  • You have a Bluetooth enabled barcode scanner that you have paired with your tablet.

  • Open customer account

    • Click Accounts in the side menu. This opens your customer list.

    • Find the customer whose account you wish to open, either by browsing the customer list or using the search facility.

    • Click on the customer’s name to open the account.

  • Create new order

    • Click New Order. This opens the new order screen.

    • Select Barcode Scanner.

    • Scan the barcodes of the products you wish to add. If it exists in your product catalogue, the product is added to your Cart.
