Term Definition
Rate limit

the maximum number of times an action can be repeated within a certain timeframe. 

In this context, the rate limit refers to the number of attempts made to Checkout using a payment gateway within one session.

Really Simple Syndication

(RSS), a standardised system for distributing content from an online publisher.

Related product

provides a way to link certain products to other products for cross-selling or up-selling purposes.

Representational State Transfer

(REST), and is a protocol used to send and receive data using standard web service calls.

Requisition order

a request for goods or services made by an employee to the person or department in a company that is responsible for purchasing.

Sales tax

generic term used to cover the additional tax applied to products in a B2C context. It refers to VAT in the UK and EU, GST in Australia and New Zealand and federal and state tax applied to product sales in USA and Canada.

Search engine optimization

(SEO), a method of attracting more organic traffic to your website (in this case, WebShop) by making it appear higher on search engine results pages.

Search engine result page

(SERP), a list of ranked results which are returned based on search terms you enter into a search engine.

Service charge

service charge consists of four elements:

  1. product code, which is set to a product type of shipping. It is active and visible in the product catalogue.
  2. charge type, which is the method used to calculate the shipping amount due for the cart contents. Supported charge types are:
  3. Flat fee
  4. Cart net percentage (%)
  5. ERP pricing
  6. No charge
  7. an amount, which defines the shipping cost.
  8. priority which allows you to define the order in which charges are applied when calculating shipping fees.
Shipping product code

a product code that has been assigned for use as a shipping code.

Shipping rule

a rule that binds the defined shipping units to a specific set of products.

Shipping service

a shipping method comprising of a set of service rules and service charges.

Shipping unit

a metric (for example, weight or cost) that can be used to calculate delivery charges based on a range of items in your cart.

For example:

  1. Shipping unit 1: 0 < Cart value < 199.99, delivery fee = 9.99
  2. Shipping unit 2: Cart value > 200, delivery fee = free
Short link

a web address or URL that has been shortened to allow for quicker, easier access to a particular webpage. 

Simple category tree

a file directory that contains your product listings structured as a single parent with multiple children.

Sitemap

a file containing a list of the key pages in your WebShop, used by search engines to find products and content.

Slider

a control that allows you to scroll horizontally through a number of items without changing the display format or other information on the screen.

Template

is a set of standards elements that define the layout of your WebShop, the collection of tools that allow you control what is displayed in each of its standard elements, a set of configurable product features that can be switched on / off and access to tools that allows you to add extra content sections.

Text

Context: Translations feature

a string displayed on an element used in WebShop’s user interface.

Theme

is the branding and content that you add to your WebShop template.

Trade or ERP discount

configured in your ERP, and automatically transferred from you ERP during your regular import. May apply to certain customers.

Translation

a “Global tag:text“ pair, which links a particular label to a particular piece of text, where

  1. Global tag a label assigned to a field or element in WebShop’s user interface
  2. Text (in this context) a string displayed on an element used in WebShop's user interface
Twig

an open source template engine which we refer to as our templating language. It consists of a standard syntax that uses expressions, variables and tags to control the content and logic of each template or code snippet.

Uniform resource locator

(URL), the address of a website.

URL shortening

a process by which a long URL is shortened to allow for ease of use. 

Visible

a product whose status is set to Visible, which means that the product can be viewed and purchased by your customers.

Voucher

deducts a fixed amount from the total due on an order. A voucher can be used multiple times and reduces over time. If the amount of the order is greater than the voucher value, the remaining balance is charged to credit card. If the amount of the order is less than the voucher value, the order amount is deducted from the voucher, and the voucher balance is reduced by the same amount The remaining voucher value can be used at a later time.

Web account

a WebShop account that provides you with WebShop functionality, such as viewing online order history, saving carts for future use or save delivery and billing addresses, which is not synchronized with your ERP.

Web service

service that allows two disparate systems communicate with each other via a standard messaging system.

WebShop

an integrated B2B or B2C web portal that provides real time access to product, price and stock levels. WebShop has access to the Management Interface to allow customers customize their websites and manage their WebShop.

WebShop Instant Account

a WebShop account that is automatically created if it is possible to validate your customer's email address against their details in your ERP.

WYSIWYG editor

a text editor that displays your content as you would see it on WebShop.

defines ‘you’ as the merchant using one of our products, such as SalesRep, WebShop, PocketShop or Management Interface.
