Term Definition
Admin user

a user that has permissions which allow them to manage and carry out additional tasks in Experlogix Digital Commerce products.

Application Platform Interface

(API), which is an interface that allows two different computer systems interact with each other. It consists of a number of rules (also known as endpoints) that request data from the other system and receive and process responses from that system.

B2B customer

a credit customer who has an account on your ERP system.

B2B portal or Customer portal

a secure customer self-service website that allows your customers to order, check stock and manage their account with you. The B2B portal has access to the Management Interface to allow customers customize their websites.

B2C customer

a cash customer who signs up for a web account on WebShop who has access to some customer self-service options, such as viewing their order history, maintaining a list of favourite products and saving delivery details.

Block

one or more elements that are stored under the same branch within the navigational tree.

Bootstrap

a frontend development toolkit used to create responsive websites.

Branch

set of nodes where a node can be a link, a page or a block.

Category

a class that contains one or more products from your product listing.

Category tree

a hierarchy containing your product listings consisting of parent and child categories.

Charge rule

charge rule consists of three elements:

  1. metric, which the item that shipping calculations are performed on. Supported metrics are: 
  2. Cart net total
  3. Cart gross total
  4. Delivery country
  5. Shipping zone - a defined group of countries
  6. Customer code
  7. Customer group - a defined group of customers
  8. Delivery postcode
  9. Cart contents based on product code
  10. Pricing properties that have been imported from your ERP and mapped to the pricing table on our platform
  11. rule type or operator, which is used to compare the base item against the amount. Each metric has a set of allowable operands. The operands displayed are based on the metric type; strings will typically operands like "one of" while numbers will typically have operands like "greater than or equal to".
  12. value, which is the metric used to compare against.

Charge type

defines how shipping charges are calculated against the total value of all products contained in the cart. The following charge types are supported:

  1. ERP pricing: a ‘shipping product code’ with an associated fee is configured in your ERP. It is imported as part of the regular product catalogue import from your ERP.
  2. Flat fee: a flat rate delivery amount is entered, and added to the cart as a shipping fee.
  3. Cart net percentage (%): the shipping charge is calculated as a percentage of the cart’s net total.
  4. No charge: no shipping charge is applied to the cart’s total

Commerce eXtensible Markup Language

(cXML), a language used to transfer messages between eProcurement systems, eCommerce sites and suppliers.

Cookie

small text file that is placed on your computer by websites that you visit. They are widely used in order to make websites work, or work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the owners of the site.

Cookie notice

message that pops up when WebShop is initially opened that requires your customers to provide consent to allow cookies be sorted on their machine.

Cookie policy

detailed policy that explains how your customer information is used in WebShop, Typically, it categorizes cookies into four types, as follows:

  1. Strictly necessary
  2. Performance 
  3. Marketing
  4. Functionality

For each cookie, its name, purpose and a link to more information must be specified within the Cookie policy

Coupon

applies a percentage reduction on some or all products. We offer support for both shipping coupons used to reduce or remove shipping charges and percentage coupons used to apply a % reduction on all products except shipping products.

Credit balance

the outstanding amount on the account; the amount your customer has either spent or has been allocated to your customer's account by open orders.

Customer

a client of the merchant.

Customer group

a list of customers who have a web account on WebShop that are linked via a group name. 

Endpoint

a rule or command that specifies the location on the server that can accept data requests, process them and return a response. A set of endpoints (or rules) make up an API.

Enterprise resource platform

(ERP), a collection of your critical business operating systems, such as product, stock levels, financial, customers, suppliers and so on that run on the same platform

ePrivacy regulations

specify what consent is needed by the data controller to manage cookies and other similar technologies. Typically, cookies required to run a service do not require explicit content, while other cookies used to perform other activities (for example, marketing cookies) do require explicit consent.

European Product Database for Energy Labelling

(EPREL), a European database that contains specific information sheet and the energy label for each registered product.

EXtensible Markup Language

(XML), a language used to store and transport data which is human- and machine- readable.

Favicon

(favourite icon), is a small icon consisting of your logo or brand image. Typically, it appears beside a page’s title in a browser tab, but it can also appear in address bars, and in search engine result pages.

File Transfer Protocol

(FTP), is a standard communication protocol that is used to transfer files between computers.

Flat rate delivery charge

a shipping product type that indicates the cost of delivery. The same delivery charge is applied regardless of the value of the order.

Framework

refers to the web technologies that underpin your WebShop.

Gated login

your customers must have an account with you and log into that account to use the functionality on your eCommerce site.

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

European Union's data protection law.

Global Asset Manager

(GAM), is the file management system built into Management Interface and used to support standard file management operations.

Global tag

Context: Translations feature

a label assigned to a field or element in WebShop’s user interface.

Google Analytics 4

(GA4), captures data from different points on your website and app. The data captured is triggered by events (such as View Product or Checkout) which allows you to understand your customer's experience better and make informed decisions in order to improve business efficiency and sales.

Group related product

a related product where all products are linked to each other.

Hypertext Markup Language

(HTML), the standard markup language for creating Web pages, used to describe the structure of a Web page.

Invoice payment

is a debit / credit payment which has been made against the outstanding amount that your customer owes you.

JavaScript Object Notification

(JSON), a open standard text format that defines data elements in a structured way that is both human- and machine- readable.

Linear related product

a related product where one product is linked to a number of other products, but the other products are not linked in return.

Link

link to an existing page.
