How do I import and export related products?

Purpose and scope

Do you have products in your catalogue that you'd like to upsell or cross-sell? With our related product feature, you can link products together, which are then displayed in your WebShop under a configurable heading. We support two types of related products: linear related products and group related products

This feature guide provides a step by step guide on how to use our spreadsheet import / export functionality to import and export related products in your product catalogue.

Key points

We recommend that you read Understanding product administration in WebShop to understand how the import / export spreadsheet feature operates and Understanding related products for more information on this feature before following the steps outlined in this guide.

Action 1: Create spreadsheet for linear related product

Create spreadsheet to import

Use our product import / export spreadsheet feature to quickly import related products.

  • Either manually create a spreadsheet with the information you wish to import. The spreadsheet contains two columns as follows:

    • Column A: Group name - name of related product group that is visible in WebShop

    • Column B: Product code (SKU) - a list of product identifiers you wish to connect, where the first product code is the product that all other products are related to. Second and additional product codes are added in the subsequent rows. The Group Name is left blank where a product code belongs to the same linear group.

  • Or export a spreadsheet which includes all linear related products, and update it as required.

Sample spreadsheet

The sample data displayed shows the format for a spreadsheet used to import linear related products. Note that

  • Product codes that form a linear group are added into subsequent rows in Column B.

  • Column A (Group Name) is left blank where a product code belongs to the same linear grouping.

  • Each new linear group is indicated with a new Group Name in Column A.

What does my customer see in WebShop?

Your customers can see related products (either linear or grouped) once you have imported your changes.

Linear related products

In WebShop, all product codes listed apart from the first product code are displayed on the first product code’s detailed product page. The first product code is not listed on any of the other linked product listing pages. Related products are displayed on the first product’s detailed product page from left to right in alphabetical numerical order.

Group related products

In WebShop, all products listed in the spreadsheet are displayed under Related Products on each of the four product's detailed product pages.  The products are displayed from left to right in alphabetical numerical order.

To verify that the relationships created between products are correct, view the detailed product screen of the product(s) in WebShop and check that the related products are displayed as you expected.
